Our policy: We expect OTE members to be respectful to one another and to help each other develop as performers. A caring team makes a happy team. We also want you to have fun and make new friends! We know mobiles play a big part in today's society, but would request our members use them only when it is urgent! Please refrain from taking photos or videos during rehearsals.
Membership is by audition. Auditions will take place once a year. Our next round of auditions will take place late June. We aim to keep our numbers low in order to offer more individual performance time. As a new group, we need to pull together to build a strong reputation in the community. Commitment and a passion for musical theatre is what we are looking for. Auditions are a major part of the theatre world. The more you experience them, the easier they get! We will ask you to choose your own choice of song. Alternatively, please feel free to use one of our suggestions: Day by Day (Godspell), Favourite Things (Sound of Music), Shake a Tail Feather (Blues Brothers). The audition panel will also ask why you would like to join OTE. It's as simple as that! Audition preparation is something we will cover at one of our workshops. Please contact us for an application form and details on our next auditions.
Eligibility: Members must be aged 12 -17 years old at the start of a new term. Auditions take place yearly.
Where? Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings (term time) at Wychwood School, 74 Banbury Road, Oxford OX2 6JR. www.wychwoodschool.org The theatre will be our rehearsal and performance home. Rehearsals 7-9pm.
Performances: Our first production will be a musical showcase with a 1920's vibe. This will take place on July 2nd, 2017 at Wychwood School, Oxford. Tickets will be on sale on April 17th.
Parent involvement: We would love to hear from any parents keen on helping out with hair and make-up and scenery. Maybe you have a particular theatre skill. As a new group, we will need plenty of help with ticket sales, promotion, advertising, serving drinks at performances, costumes etc.
Cost: Our termly charge is £120. Term will cover an 8/9/10 week duration. We believe our fee is very competitive in comparison to other youth theatre companies.
Rehearsals: Members can wear anything comfortable to rehearse in. A rehearsal schedule will be sent out before the start of term.
Staff: Providing a safe environment for our young performers is vital. All OTE staff have an enhanced DBS clearance at the start of term. Please do ask if you would like to see these. A qualified first aider (one of our team) will be present at every rehearsal. We keep a weekly register and expect to be notified as to how the young performers will be getting home.
